2 Day Pottery Workshop
With the 2 day workshops it gives people a chance to see their pieces all the way through the making process (other than the glaze). These workshops are more for people who want to have a deeper understanding to making a piece from start to finish. I would recommend people come in with more of an idea as to what they hope to achieve in the 2 days, although it’s obviously not mandatory it just gives us something to work towards.

Day 1
We start with a deeper explanation as to the importance of clay preparation and you have a go at wedging the clay yourself. I go through some of the words that will crop up the most. I explain the principle behind making a piece from start to finish from throwing to turning/trimming, to making slip, to making/adding handles etc…
The first day is largely taken up with throwing unless there is any hand building that is required. You have a chance to really get to grips with understanding how to centre a piece clay to pulling out and drawing up. There is no limit as to how much clay you can use as all the clay is recycled and reused.
Day 2
This is when we get to bring the piece together. Whether it’s making and attaching handles, trimming the base of a bowl, adding texture…this is when you see it all come together and hopefully a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into a handmade piece is born!
